Sp. Garabed vank of Mush - The monastery of Sp. Garabed is also known as Klaga vank and Chengeli kilise (bell church), now called Çengilli. The monastery most like dates from the 10th century. Sp. Garabed vank was the richest monastic institution in Ottoman Armenia at the beginning of the 20th century. The monastery had been inclosed by massive stone walls. Today, only portions of Sp. Stepanos church and segments of the wall remain, many of the stones having been used by the Kurds in building their homes in the village which has formed on the site since the 1960's. The destruction is ongoing. The photographs were taken in April 2015.
