Tadem vank - The Armenian monastery associated with the village of Tadem, now called Tadım, is actually a couple of miles north closer to the current town of Yalnız. The monastery was also known by Sp. Asdvadzadzin, Sp. Hovhannes or the monastery of Tlgadin (another village in the area). Legend attributes the founding of the monastery to the 7th century. It was an important site until the genocide. Similar to Khoulavank, there had been recent vandalism chipping away the base of the pillars in hopes that they would crumple and the dome collapse. An article in the Armenian Weekly following our May 2012 trip, raised awareness of the vandalism which has now stopped under the scrutiny of local officials and the family that currently owns the property. The photographs were taken between 2012 and 2014.
