Sp. Arakelots vank of Mush - Sp. Arakelots monastery is located west of the village of Arak, now called Kepenek. The monastery is also known as Sp. Lazaru vank, Arak kilise by Turks and Dirarak by Kurds. The monastery dates to the 10th century and there were khachkars dating to the 12th century at the site. Supposedly the main church was dynamited in the 1960's and the walls that once surrounded the large monastic complex are gone. The structure to the east of the main church is the chapel of Sp. Thaddeus. I visited the monastery in April 2015 on the last day I was in the area. We had been told that the road was too muddy to pass, but we went anyway and found it was passable. As a result though, I had limited time and took few pictures.
